Round 3 DT Trades

We’re about to enter the 3rd round of the 2007 Dream Team comp. This is the round I’ll be making my first trades, as after round 3 comes to an end, the price changes will take effect. Now’s the perfect time to pick up certain money makers, while at the same time getting rid of some of your underperforming players that will drop in value.

I have already made up my mind as to who to trade in and out, but I’ll be waiting until the official teams are released before actually making the trades. I’ve been burnt in the past with late injuries/withdrawals, so these days I leave it to the last minute before pressing that trade button.

Depending on your current team, bankroll and overall strategy, here are the five players in each position that I would consider trading in to my side this week, sorted by price.

Backs

If you’ve played Dream Team before, you’ll know that finding cheap, quality players in your back line is probably one of the hardest things to do. There aren’t many consistent scoring backs around, and the ones that are consistent are usually overpriced (Chad Cornes & the Bowden brothers come to mind).

  1. Jed Adcock ($158,600)
If he’s not in your team this week, you’re missing out.
  2. Nathan Bock ($235,600)
Set for a great year, price will certainly go up.
  3. Tadgh Kennely ($240,400)
Looking good for his price, should score consistently.
  4. Adam Mcphee ($308,100)
Not a steal per se, but I think he’s set for a big year.
  5. Lindsay Gilbee ($319,700)
    Could be his year.

Centres

Hands down the easiest position to find cheap, quality players. There are so many that I simply can’t list them all, but here’s my top 5 trade choices for your centre.

  1. David Rodan ($126,400)
Played a couple of consistent games, price should go up.
  2. Aaron Fiora ($202,800)
Two very solid performances, this price can only go one way.
  3. Jason Winderlich ($215,500)
Has the capacity to make this his break out year.
  4. Peter Burgoyne ($265,100)
First game back and he scored 98, keep an eye on him.
  5. Michael Rischitelli ($274,700)
A very promising kid who knows how to find the ball.

Rucks

Another position that’s hard to fill, there are really only a handful of players that I would consider trading in to my side at this stage of the game.

  1. Patrick Ryder ($109,500)
Looking much bigger than last year, price should go up.
  2. Ben Hudson ($112,700)
Adelaide’s primary ruck should improve in value a lot.
  3. Luke Darcy ($166,900)
If he can get back to his best, price will sky rocket.
  4. Aaron Sandilands ($292,100)
Hands down the best value for money ruck available.
  5. Peter Everitt ($295,600)
Showed good form last game, injury concerns are my put off.

Forwards

Again, there’s not really too much value in the forward line, a couple of those listed here I’m not too sure about, but it’s hard to argue with stats.

  1. Alwyn Davey ($82,300)
Essendon should play him in their best 22 for a while still.
  2. Justin Koschitzke ($139,400)
Most should have him at this price, only an injury will stop him.
  3. Nathan Ablett ($151,500)
Good for his price, doubt it will continue but price should increase.
  4. Adam Pattisson ($157,900)
Rucking due to Knobel & Simmonds absence, had two decent games.
  5. Jared Brennan ($246,700)
Still not convinced, but 2 solid performances so far.

It looks like Tom from the AFL Dream Team Blog is handing out some more solid advice on who to pick up before the price change, and I reckon the folks over at Dream Team Talk will offer some humorous and insightful comments as well.

Is it cheating to have Bock as a top 5 for both forward and back?

Either way, which one is he for you? For me, a back.

I guess it is mate, changed it :)

Yeah I’ve got Bock in my backline too, it’s looking pretty solid at the moment with the exception of Cornes and Bowden. There’s still a long way to go though :)
