About Us

Welcome fellow Australian Rules Football lovers. Let’s get straight into it shall we, why did I make this site? With so much footy information spread over so many different websites online, I find it’s extremely hard to keep up with it all. I wanted to make a site that was extremely easy to keep up to date on all of the latest happenings in AFL news topics including results, suspensions, tips, injuries, controversies and everything related to our beloved game.

I purchased the domain name aflblog.com in 2006 and put the very first page online in 2007. I am an eager AFL punter, so betting on AFL football on the internet is one of my favourite activities. Therefore, keeping up with the latest footy news and happenings of all AFL clubs is absolutely vital for me to have an edge when punting. That is the main purpose of this site, an all-in-one, simple to use, easily accessible source of news for everything related to AFL Football.

There’s never enough hours in the day, so there may still be some bugs here and there and I want to continue to improve the site as the years go on. I can’t believe it’s been over 6 years already that I’ve been providing news, tips and betting odds for Aussie Rules – time really does fly when you’re having fun! I have found that keeping it simple is the best way to go, whenever I try to add new features such as automatically related videos from Youtube on each news report or synchronized articles from a more diverse range of reputable news outlets with differing views and opinions, the whole site seems to slow down and/or break completely. So what I aim to do is give all of us footy fans all of the latest headlines and basic news, all in one easy to find place. This is not intended to be a comprehensive news source, but a quick and easy way to find out all of the most important information very quickly. Put AFL Blog in your internet bookmarks, your RSS reader or just remember the name, AFLBlog.com and keep coming back. The more readers I get, the more likely it is that I’ll improve the site, visitors equates to motivation for me, so if you think this site has helped you keep in touch with AFL, don’t hesitate to mention it to your mates.

I think it’s great that you took the time to read the about page, and it excites me that you have done so. I hope that in time, AFL Blog will be one of your primary sources for the latest AFL news and the site can grow in to the behemoth that I have envisioned. I have always had grand plans for this website, but as I’m sure you’re aware, we all have a life outside of the internet to live and the “list” of things to do (including world domination via the best AFL website on the internet) keeps growing every single day.

I hope you enjoy the ease of use and the simplicity of this site and come back for a brief run-down of the major AFL football news regularly. I’m more than happy to cover all of the scandals that other websites won’t, I love to report information that the powers-that-be try and withhold from all of us and if you have any tips, first hand information or anything you think that could be beneficial to AFL fans and punter alike, don’t hesitate to contact me.
